Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor? Cost Manager? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a major UK company in a Quantity Surveyor role. We provide retail, business and corporate banking, and insurance and investment services through our multi-brand strategy in the UK and internationally.

Job responsibilities:
- To ensure feasibility and construction schemes represent the best value
- To deliver value for money on projects through consideration of scheme, program and cost
- To drive the achievement of capital savings through innovative solutions
- Use of standards to control the scheme and ensure it is value for money
- Risk management during feasibility and construction phases

Role specifics:
- Performance management of external consultants
- Work alongside development planning to ensure best value scheme is achieved
- Driving project teams to deliver the most cost effective design solutions for new stores and extensions
- Delivering cost and value information to enable board approval for investment decisions
- Uses knowledge and experience to establish the financial objectives of a development and leads the value engineering process
- Fully understands and supports the ongoing development of our standard build costs
- Coaches and develops our cost consultants through the application of clear performance management routines

Problem solving:
- Leads value engineering of schemes to deliver cost savings through alternative design solutions and construction methodologies

Change:
- Development of cost for new initiatives to give competitive advantage
- Recording value management led changes to scheme, programme and cost
- Implementing new ways of working with main contractors, cost consultants and suppliers to ensure we procure our new stores and extensions for the right price
- Promoting ‘best value' design solutions or construction methods to minimise abnormal costs

Candidate profile:
Preferably a construction industry background. Ideal experience could include quantity surveying, construction procurement, construction finance or project management
