Rating & Evaluation Surveyor

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Rating Surveyor to join our growing property team. Your role is to maximise rates refunds on operational properties through the management of external agents and to minimise rates liabilities on both operational & non-operational estates.
The role offers an opportunity to become involved with the management of a substantial rates budget (£300M+ for 2007/2008), which relates to a substantial and varied estate, including all retail formats, together with head office and distribution centres and a large non-operational investment/development portfolio. Rates has a significant profile in the business and minimising liability is a key task in assets and estates as the portfolio continues to expand.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and challenging valuation appeals.
- Ensuring the competitor impact report, development programme including downsize / refit, disruption report, roadwork reports, turnover figures and plans are in order.
- Monitoring and controlling MCC appeals to ensure all opportunities taken and information provided.
- Working on project work to minimise rates e.g. surplus space, section 44a appeals.
- Non trading estate – advise Property Managers on IPI properties to minimise liability.
- Working on 2010 revaluation to provide rental and other information required to enable prior agreements on valuations and schemes of valuation.
- Managing ad hoc audits to maximise refunds.
- Assisted in preparation of rates budget, periodic reviews and LTP.
You will be RICS accredited or equivalent.
