Resident Mechanical Engineer - Healthcare

We are currently recruiting on behalf of an agency partner providing project management services to a large International charity. One of the charity's focus areas lies within Health Services, of which theirs is one of the most comprehensive private not-for-profit health care systems in the world. They provide primary Healthcare and curative medical care in countries such as Afghanistan, Kenya, India, Pakistan and Tanzania whilst also providing technical assistance to government health services in these countries.
As part of this initiative they are in the process of constructing a new-build 5 storey hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. The development is attached to the current university hospital located in the heart of the city and will be a state of the art facility for Kenya. Each floor will house a different department consisting of 2 nuclear bunkers for cancer research in the basement, followed by a cardiac ward, a maternity ward, a 5 theatre ICU ward and a critical care ward.
The project has reached a crucial stage where they now require a Senior Resident Mechanical Engineer to deal with all HVAC components. Due to the specialist nature of the project and in order to obtain a working visa, it is essential that all applicants are degree qualified with a minimum of 8 – 10 years experience, at least 3 years of which have been spent working on Healthcare/Research projects ensuring that you understand the technical requirements of HVAC equipment for medical facilities. You will need to demonstrate a proven track record within design as well as the ability to trouble-shoot and manage projects on site.
The position is to be treated as a contract appointment for a minimum of 12 – 14 months and is unlikely to run beyond this, however there is a strong possibility of moving onto another project within the organisation upon completion. Due to the tight timescale in place they will ideally be looking to mobilise the suitable candidate within the next 2 months once the necessary visa has been granted.
