SALES DIRECTOR – PREMIUM CONSUMER GOODS

Job Purpose
To plan and implement a sustainable Sales strategy in order to meet company objectives
for retention growth, new business and new product development, sales revenue,
volume and profitability. To contribute as a Board Member to the executive Management
of the company

Person Profile:
• A business graduate who is commercially and financially astute
• Previous Senior Management/Board Level experience within an SME
• Experience in a High Ticket/Value Consumer Goods business
• Articulate, influential and assertive
• Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view.
• Well presented and businesslike.
• Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel within the UK.
• Hands on, sleeves up approach to tasks/projects
• Challenging by nature, inquisitive, versatile & adaptable.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Achieve agreed budgets in terms of sales revenue, volume and margin.
• Plan and implement sales strategy for the retention and development of both existing and new customers.
• Analyse and improve sales performance
• Review and implement agreed Channel strategies
• Plan and manage sales & promotional spend in conjunction with Marketing according to agreed budgets.
• Contribute to formulation of policy and strategy as a board member.
• Recruit, manage, train and motivate direct reporting staff according to company procedures, policy and employment law.
• Maintain administration and relevant reporting and planning systems.
• Manage relevant reporting of management and financial information for the sales department.
• Identify and recommend NPD and new business development opportunities.
• Maintain and develop corporate image and reputation, and protect and develop the company's brands via implementation of agreed brand marketing strategy
• Plan and manage internal communications and awareness of corporate direction, mission, aims and activities.
• Execute the responsibilities of a company director according to lawful and ethical standards.
• Actively network with key customers, trade & industry bodies and professionals.


Key Challenges:

• Analyse and evaluate team efficiency/productivity and recommend responsibilities, structure and levels of expectation going forward
• Evaluate current customer base and identify new channels of opportunity for both existing core product range and future new products
• Implement a recruitment process to attract and retain quality sales people
• Work closely with Marketing to attain a progressive Sales & Marketing strategy to achieve Corporate objectives
