The Royal Society of Chemistry plays a major role in promoting the advancement of the chemical sciences, leading opinion, influencing policy, lobbying government and supporting industry. With a rapidly growing global network of Members and an internationally acclaimed publishing business, activities include education and training, conferences and policy development. As part of its ambitious growth strategy the RSC is seeking a high calibre, hands on sales and publishing professional to bring its world renowned products and services to new audiences and markets.

Reporting to the Managing Director - Publishing,

You will:
• Be responsible for developing and driving the overall strategy of the society’s new and existing business models and products
• Conduct a market analysis that results in the increased profitability, scope and reputation of the Society’s innovative, prestigious products and services
• Ensure a profitability of the Society’s publishing, Library & Information Centre and other information handling services
• Manage and implement budgets for the Society’s sales, advertising, library information and other business functions
• Develop, manage and lead a large team in the UK and internationally to achieve ambitious global growth targets and improve viability of the RSC’s offering


You will:
• Have a demonstrable record of success in the sales, magazine publishing (print and online), information supply and product development, delivering against aggressive revenue targets
• Be an inspirational strategic thinker who is able to effectively chart the society’s sales strategy in an complex international market space with encroaching competitors
• Be able to persuasively demonstrate the capability to build effective business relationships with a varying network of customers and stakeholders across international boundaries
• Have excellent leadership ability and possess a successful track record of effectively managing a large resource base to ensure financial success
• Be innovative and creative in the development of new business and sales models
