Senior Buying Manager - Produce

Due to continued innovation and expansion, this leading food retailer are looking for an experienced produce specialist to join their buying team.

As the Senior Buying Manager on produce, your key responsibilities will be;

- Creation and implementation of the produce sourcing plan, linked specifically to seasonality and availability.
- Delivering the quality improvement plan to ensure the company has market leading fresh produce.
- Delivering NPD projects through keeping abreast of market developments and utilizing product knowledge; seasonality, varieties, shelf life etc.
- Working closely with suppliers to deliver fully sustainable produce sourcing solutions.
- To regularly hold review meetings with suppliers to ensure consistent quality, innovation, logistics etc.
- To act as the produce ‘expert’ within the business.

To be the successful applicant you must be a specialist in produce procurement/buying, preferably from a retail environment although applications from a supply-side background would be considered. You must have strong commercial awareness with experience in a fast-paced retail / service organization. Strong negotiation and influencing skills are essential.
