Senior Category Controller Furniture

This is an exciting opportunity for a head of buying to join a leading high street furniture retailer. You will monitor and drive the sales and profit performance of the categories and focus on the achievement of budgeted sales and % GP targets. To develop, oversee and implement our client's range strategy as agreed with the Buying & Merchandising Director.
Your responsibilities will include:
-To develop, support and drive the buying team, instilling a greater commercial outlook and an environment of continuous improvement
-Responsible for Supplier and Product Strategy including the setting of annual category plans and 3 year plan and ensuring that Category reviews take place every 6 months.
-Work with the Senior Merchandising Controller in the setting of sales, margin and stock Budgets and the development of the weekly Trading Pack.
-Processes and controls are robust and continually reviewed NPI / Range Change / Price Changes
-Supplier relationships are managed effectively and supplier capabilities and contingencies continuously reviewed
-Ensure that the financial controls are sufficiently robust for the pace of growth and change within the Business currently and for the future
-In conjunction with the Quality Manager ensure that suppliers meet our needs in respect of product quality, due diligence, ethics and environment.
-The Product range is continuously developed and evaluated with accurate forecasting of all new lines
To be successful you will already be working at a senior trading level with a large volume high street retailer. Although this is a senior strategic position you will also enjoy the hands on element of trading.
