Senior Commercial Sales Manager

The client is a leading manufacturer of high value and technical construction products, operating in the heavy construction civils market place. It has a national presence and is undergoing a significant growth period, both organically and by acquisition and is passionate in being the best in an increasingly competitive and evolving industry.

The company directly supplies the Major and Regional contractors such as Balfour Beatty, Costain, Carillion, McAlpine and Laing O'Rourke with several depots located around the UK.

Due to recent expansion, they are currently recruiting a Senior Commercial Sales manager with the view to develop into a Sales Director / Business Development Director position who will be responsible for the overall development of the north of England and Midlands. You will be very technically minded in your approach with the ability to liaise with clients at a senior director level. A background in Civil Engineering and of graduate calibre would be desirable.

Responsible to the Operations Director, you will be Liaising closely with colleagues in the branch, regional, safety and head office teams plus management teams of other divisions.

- To develop and grow the business in The North and Midlands which currently stands at a turnover of £15million
- Customer interface management including cradle to grave customer services and targeting and developing new business.
- Responsibility for effective implementation of the company's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management procedures.
- Development of staff and infrastructure resources in-line with growth and expansion plans.
- Provide support and guidance to the technical sales team in driving sales, identifying new opportunities, maintaining and developing customer relationships, monitoring competitor pricing and activity, and assessing reasons for lost bids
- Provide reports and information as requested by the management team
- Exercise control and approval over new estimates and key costs
- Ensure an internal communication structure is in place in the branch and used effectively
- Promote a safety culture ensuring the use of the company's Health and Safety system.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a commercial / technical environment with good business acumen and an understanding of health and safety and quality requirements.
