Senior Resident Engineer

A Senior Resident Engineer is needed to be based in Bacau (NE Romania) and manage the works for the rehabilitation of flood damaged bridges. The project started earlier this year and a new Senior Resident Engineer is now needed to replace the current person who is leaving Romania.

As Senior Resident Engineer you will be reporting to the Resident Project Manager and responsible for the preparation of the monthly measurements and payment certificates. You will assist the Resident Project Manager in the administration of the works contract and deputising in his absence. You will also assist him in the timely preparation and submission of the analysis and recommendation in connection to any contractor's claims.

As well as being responsible for day to day activities of the local supervisory staff, you will also be needed to

- Liaise with RNCMNR Regional Directorate.
- Liaise with the utility companies for any diversions or protection of plant.
- Liaise with the Traffic police for traffic diversions and works on the highway.
- Liaise with any affected landowners.
- Review contractor's road safety measures and traffic diversions during construction.
- Assist in measurements required for variation orders, estimates and interim and final measures.
- Ensure that full documentation and records are maintained in the site office facility to properly substantiate all interim and final payments to the contractor to a standard acceptable to the RNCMNR.

A good working knowledge of the English language is desirable for this position. You will have a Bachelors degree in engineering or a similar field and be a member of a professional institution.

It is an essential specification that you have a good knowledge of the provisions of law 10/95 and subsequent Romanian legislation. You will also need a good knowledge of FIDIC conditions of contract.

You will have experience in the following
- Re measurement contracts
- Construction supervision (highway,roads,bridges)
- Claims and contractual matters.
- Relevant experience as a Resident Engineer.
