Senior Manager – Retail Risk

Our client is a major financial institution with a significant presences across CEE as a result of continued growth are now looking to recruit a senior retail risk specialist in to their head office risk team.

As a part of the Retail Risk Management team, the incumbent is an inherent part of the Head Office Basel II Group Programme, while being responsible to keep the retail credit risk management know how at the highest level supporting the continuously changing retail market environment with the development of best practice risk management tools and methodology.

The selected candidate will control selected group of counties implementation of the Retail BII Project in line with the bank strategy and the selected target approach. In case of reprioritization needs or serious escalation procedures he/she ensures that the decisions are made reflecting both the individual countries and the HO expectations. This requires a high level of communication and negotiation skills to handle tough situations. In this role he/she must be both direct and forceful as well as diplomatic at different organizational levels.

Key responsibilities include:


• Share / Implement the HO Concepts locally, ensuring group compliance and comparability
• Provide / organize external support to accelerate the implementations / secure the regulatory capital calculation within the agreed budget and timeline
• Monitor the local development and Follow up the Basel II Project compliance
• Escalate to senior management / local steering committees any deviation to the agreed plan, which might danger the IRB approval schedule
• Provide support during the regulatory approval process to the local retail risk management

Skills and Requirements:

• Master degree in Economic Sciences or Business Administration, with strong Mathematical / Econometrical background
• At least 5 years experience in risk management of a bank, financial institution or consultancy in an international environment (thereof at least 3 years experience in retail risk management)
• Retail Basel II knowledge is an asset
• Proven experience in project management or six sigma approaches – certification is an advantage
• Excellent social / negotiation skills in a multinational environment. Combination of high energy and pleasant personality, analytical thinking and creative problem solving capability
• Excellent knowledge of English
• Knowledge of a CEE language is a strong advantage
• General computer knowledge (Excel, Access; SAS and basic programming knowledge are an advantage)
• Willingness to travel (20-30% of working time)
• Eager to learn and to develop himself / herself continuously
