Senior SQL DBA
City of London - London
Reporting to the Head of Web Development, this role takes full ownership of the existing data environment. You’ll be responsible for designing and developing data architectures that support future product development as well as maintaining and overhauling existing systems where required. In addition to this, you will take ownership for Business Reporting by managing a Reporting Engineer and their area of work.
System design and documentation experience required:-
- You are a very experienced data architect, able to analyze and append existing designs as well as design new data architectures based on functional and technical requirements.
- You possess excellent system design and documentation skills, able to produce good written design documents as well as retrospectively document existing systems.
Development support experience required:-
- As the data environment is predominantly based on MS SQL 2005, the candidate should have strong knowledge of all things MS SQL (DTS, SSIS, SRSS, BCP). Experience with mySQL on a Unix / Linux environment is preferable.
- Strong experience working in a web development team with regular delivery cycles, participating in day-to-day development task likes schema modifications and store procedure development.
- Experience with web applications developed in web scripting (Coldfusion, PHP).
- Exposure to enterprise search technologies (eg. Endeca, Verity, Lucene/Solr).
- Demonstrable experience in ETL and data exports from large data sets to flat file or XML.
- Experience in versioning a complex data schema including building and maintaining a deployment process for schema, procedure and data changes.
