Site Engineering Manager (New Product Development) – electronic products – Glasgow - attractive salary and benefits
ROLE – Engineering Manager (New Product Development) – this person will lead a multi-discipline engineering team, providing significant technical contributions toward new product development programs and strategic platform initiatives in high volume market segments.
Responsibilities:-
•Lead teams to define customer requirements, develop and select concepts, design and transition new products to production following a 5-phase new product introduction process
•Direct project planning, technical management, product implementation, schedule adherence and product cost maintenance activities
•Interact frequently with customers to ensure project cost, performance and quality meets or exceeds expectations
•Responsible for the execution of departmental goals, including financial commitments and product performance results
•Assess ongoing technical abilities of team members and ensure technical work of team members is correct
•Maintain departmental budget and metrics
•Actively champion business strategy & initiatives to promote a customer-centric culture
•Deploy appropriate Design for Six Sigma tools and methodology throughout the design process; ensure team member training and certification goals are achieved
PERSON SPEC – higher weighting more important:-
•10 - Extensive experience managing an engineering function – managing people, project teams and new product development projects
•10 – Extensive experience working in electronic design & development roles
•10 - Leadership capability - to lead, motivate, and influence virtual teams towards key business goals, and initiatives and someone who can generate instant credibility both internally and externally
•10 - Qualifications – Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Physics other relevant degrees – masters degree preferred
•10 - Personality - dynamic, self-starter, accountable, assertive, multi-tasker, communicative, respected, resilient, energetic and very driven
•10 - Excellent communication skills – ability to work at all levels in the organisation
•9 – Demonstrated global mindset and proven ability to drive and successfully implement change across cultural and geographic boundaries.
•9 - Strong Project Management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines - able to work under pressure and on own initiative to get things done
•9 – Strong MS Office skills
•8 - Willing to travel globally as required
•8 - Experience of working in large matrixed multinational organisation - ideally US
•8 - Experience of 6 Sigma tools and techniques - green belt/black-belt highly desirable
