My client is a major global consulting and outsourcing organisation with an enviable reputation in the industry. One of the major contracts is in the public sector and involves a partnership with a major IT infrastructure provider. As part of this project a number of strategic sourcing managers are required to manage the partnerships between clients and supplier.
All Partner relationships are subject to both qualitative and quantitative performance metrics. Essentially this role will be responsible for shaping, leading and implementing the governance for the Performance Manager’s designated Partners. This will focus on shaping Partner propositions for the end client by aggregating performance to agreed KPI’s and controlling the commercial relationship with the Partners on behalf of the project leaders.
What makes this role especially significant is that the successful candidate will be entrusted with a large client budget and will be expected to leverage that position to drive value as well as significant innovation from the supply chain.


Given that 30% of the spend is placed with 3rd parties it is essential that the candidate is also capable of driving best in class supply chain performance. To allow the potential for innovation and improvement to be fully realised the role also demands a close understanding of the Partner’s current and future capability.
The successful candidate must be commercially astute, have the personal gravitas and networking ability to effectively influence all the client and Partner stakeholders. Other requirements include:
Experience of driving supplier performance within a structured supplier management framework
Ability to develop supplier account plans and related strategy
Management of delivering continuous improvement opportunities in conjunction with the supply chain
Ability to identify, shape and drive complex sourcing and multi-supplier arrangements
Well developed stakeholder management and influencing skills to executive levels in client, supplier and own organisation
Exceptional commercial skills and understanding of cost drivers and performance levers
Ability to develop high trust relationships to drive value out of partnerships
Good knowledge of best practice procurement within the IT industry
An ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
Comfortable operating with incomplete information and ambiguity/uncertainty
