Strategic Procurement Manager
Oxfordshire - South East
You will be responsible for managing UK second sourcing projects and programmes. Identify areas of potential business risk and develop strategies to avoid risk. Work with other Site functions to develop projects to introduce alternate suppliers and sources of any key raw materials or services. Develop, monitor and maintain a database of the most significant materials and services and update this database regularly with appropriate commercial, manufacturing and R&D input. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining key commercial interfaces with our supplier base. Work with Supply Chain Management in the identification and creation of strategic vision. Support vision and goals associated with a philosophy of continuous improvement.
Act as a group focal point for improvements in the supply of materials and service. Responsible for major capital purchases and non-inventory items. Direct the procurement of such equipment, materials and services in compliance with established purchasing policies. Include requisition processing and approval, order placement, competitive bidding, standard costing, etc. Stay informed of, and be thoroughly acquainted, with the material and service needs of the Company. Support Development with new products and processes, ensuring early purchasing involvement. Contribute to Company profitability (PPV) by ensuring most cost-effective procurement of materials and services in co-operation with Materials Manager and Site requirements. Provide site-wide procurement ‘consultancy’ to user departments.
The successful candidate for this role will have knowledge of materials and inventory computer systems, thorough understanding of contemporary planning / inventory management systems and policies, and demonstrated project leadership. This will ensure that the needs of the business are continually met or exceeded. You will be confident in working autonomously and under pressure and have the experience and ability to manage and develop a team.
