Technical Architect - Our client, a leading IT Services Provider, is currently looking to recruit a Technical Architect to be responsible for the technology planning, strategy, direction and design choices available to address the business and non-functional requirements. The focus of the architect position is to provide Subject Matter Expertise from hardware stack up through 3rd Party product/application stack (hardware, operating system, storage, network and application layer centric). This role will work with the various customers and vendors to provide fit-for-purpose solutions. This includes the guidance, support and advice in the implementation and deployment for any new or existing product developments.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
* Proven track record in leading the analysis and design of large, complex, high performance, high availability and scalable enterprise applications.
* Extensive knowledge of server platforms (Sun, IBM, HP), Operating Systems (Solaris, Linux, Windows), Storage Area Networks, Networking, load balancing, cluster solutions, security.
* Characteristics include a deep understanding of the technical architectures/products, an ability to effectively apply technical architecture/product knowledge to the technical portion of our business solutions, and an understanding of the needs of the industry to which solutions are delivered.
* A wide, extensive knowledge of multiple infrastructure/application technologies including (but not limited to) Open Systems (UNIX/LINUX), Enterprise Databases, Middleware, Communications, Web services, open source technologies, Application development platforms, testing tools, Mainframe (IBM/UNISYS), J2EE, HTML, High Availability designs and technologies, consolidation and virtualisation methodologies, technology standards.
EXPERIENCE
* Consultative/managerial experience in planning, evaluating, designing and implementing infrastructure solutions, and experience in enterprise architecture, systems integration, package implementation, and/or interactive design, and Architecture experience.
* Previous experience in Data Centre Operational/Engineering or Enterprise Architecture roles would be of great benefit.
