Our client is a high profile multinational company that provides a complete range of electronic products, systems and services to government, military and commercial customers across the globe.
They now have a requirement for a Technical Director to be totally responsible for the technical strategic planning and subsequent implementation and management to meet the needs of the business unit.
The Technical Director will also ensure that the business unit has robust, integrated technology and product strategies, plans and activities to meet the needs of the evolving business.
Responsibilities of Technical Director
+Take full responsibility for the coordination, capture, mobilisation, maintenance and communication of the business units Technology Strategic Plan (TSP) in line with the companies business plan
+Provide assessments and roadmaps, strategic people skills assessments and recommendations, Innovation policy and actions and key investment and R&T activities
+Present the TSP to internal, executive and other audiences as required
+The Technical Director must keep up-to-date in the domains, technologies and product areas applicable to the business unit
+Responsible for the management and allocation of budget
+Provide advice and direction on Research Projects
+Participate, as an expert consultant, in reviews or investigations on Key divisional projects or activities
+Work across the business unit and the wider group to promote the work of the business unit
+Capitalise and exploit business opportunities that arise from interactions
Essential skills and experience of Technical Director
+Strong background in Systems and software Engineering
+Must have a strong technical, Engineering and Leadership background
+Have an active interest within your discipline
+Experience of working within both military and commercial technology product areas
+Strong strategic and communication skills
+Ability to work as part of an integrated Executive and Management team
+Capable of working under own initiative
