THE OPPORTUNITY: Technical Manager
Technical Manager within a food manufacturing factory, reporting to the Group Technical Manager.

THE LOCATION: South Wales

THE PACKAGE: £50 to 55k

THE ROLE:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the site technical quality team, ensuring that all products entering the marketplace are safe, legal and manufactured to standards that meet or exceed all agreed internal or external specifications. Providing the key interface with customers, suppliers and all members of the senior team ensuring that technical standards are adopted and delivered and, in support of the Factory Manager, instilling a quality culture throughout the site.

KEY TASKS:
• Co-ordinating all technical quality activities including ensuring products meet agreed specifications, site and activities meet requirements of all auditing bodies and delivery of site KPIs.
• Developing site technical strategy delivering continuous improvement and added value, developing consistent best practice policies whist looking for alternative ways to solve problems.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers.
• Developing clear hygiene standards ensuring that corrective actions that may cause risks are dealt with in a timely manner, investigating any internal incidents and ensuring that contaminated product does not leave site control.
• Liaising closely with NPD and packaging teams ensuring comprehensive documentation is available, product quality standards are achievable and maintained.
• Commitment towards Food Safety, Health & Safety, Hygiene and Quality, with internal customers and external customers/suppliers

THE PERSON:
• A strong, fair and equitable leader capable of giving clear and concise direction and equipping the team with the necessary resources to achieve goals, providing feedback on performance and direction for improvement.
• Capable of prioritising and delegating activities to ensure maximisation of available resources with a track record of managing work loads effectively.
• Able to demonstrate broad retailer experience and a track record of building strong customer relationships.
• A confident communicator with a strong technical background gained in food manufacture (both branded and own label products) capable of providing a key interface both internally and externally liaising with customers, suppliers, accreditation and regulatory bodies, local EHO/TSO and consumer services.
• A focused and disciplined leader with experience of managing others, able to provide solid examples in this respect.
• Capable of driving improvement activities within own team and across site.
• Degree qualified or equivalent with at least 5years technical management experience ideally within food manufactureinvolving.
• Must have advanced HACCP and advanced Food Hygiene qualifications.
