An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Buyer/Trading Manager of non-food to join this well known leading retailer. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading a team that develops and sources product ranges which deliver gross profit, sales and space productivity targets and which deliver the proposition and category briefs.

Responsibilities:
- Full profit and loss responsibility for a key category.
- Develop ranges which deliver KPIs from the one year plan and meet the proposition and category briefs.
- Team management including recruitment/appraisals.
- Analyse customer and competitor data in order to identify opportunities.
- Work with Display Manager on display guidelines.
- Source and develop new products and suppliers
- Negotiate with suppliers to deliver range KPIs
- Conduct suppliers visits, attend trade fairs and undertake foreign travel as appropriate
- Price product to deliver margin targets and fulfill price strategies/ brand guidelines
- Set trading terms with all suppliers
- Develop promotional and event ranges to agreed promotional calendar

You will be educated to degree standard or equivalent with strong buying management experience, the successful candidate will be a hard trader and have exposure to the value markets to drive volumes. You will have to have strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills, be able to plan, prioritise and focus on the issues at hand, and to challenge the status quo. You will be an enthusiastic self starter, enabling you to work to exacting deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
