The Engineering Director will lead and motivate a large Engineering Team to optimise performance of the Engineering function at all times, and as a member of the Senior Management Team, contribute to the development and delivery of the company business strategy in terms of commercial, engineering, operations, technical and safety targets.
Our client is a major passenger transportation / travel organisation with operations both throughout the UK and internationally.
The successful Engineering Director will be a Chartered Engineer, educated to degree level or equivalent, with a proven track record in Technical Management. Knowledge of railway, rolling stock functionality / design will be advantageous, as will experience in train operation and modern maintenance systems.
The Engineering Director will have a robust and direct management style and will be a natural leader. Self motivation is essential as is the ability to work with a minimum of direction and the drive to implement significant change management programmes. The role demands an individual who is a team builder, team leader and team player, a logical and pragmatic problem solver with excellent negotiation skills.
