Personal Tax Manager

McGinnis Loy Associates are proud to be working with a Top6 UK Accountancy Firm who are looking for a Personal Tax Manager to join their growing team in Southampton. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the role would ideally suit a Qualified Accountant with CTA/ATT qualification (or equivalent) from another mid- to top-tier Accountancy Firm. You will be coaching & mentoring junior staff within the team and you must be able to demonstrate strong Personal Tax compliance expertise and knowledge. Key duties include:

• Reviewing complex tax returns within agreed internal quality standards (clients inc Non-Residents, Family estates, Times Rich List, Entrepreneurs & Inherited wealth)
• Managing a portfolio of complex HNW individuals and owner-managed business clients with personal and estate tax affairs
• Liaising with the Advisory team regarding developing tax efficient structures for client investments and wealth
• Liaising directly with clients regarding tax compliance matters on the phone and in person
• Providing general support to clients with personal tax queries including developing intelligent and creative solutions
• Assisting with tax projects and other technical assignments, in addition to professional networking
• Managing a team of qualified and PQ Tax staff, ensuring all team targets are met
• Ensuring that the quality of personal tax work is done to agreed cost and timescales, and adhering to the Firm’s quality standards.
• Dealing with clients and local Relationship Managers to ensure a smooth delivery of tax compliance work

To be considered for the role, you should ideally be seeking a move to a larger accountancy firm where wider responsibilities and a broader client base will be available to you. Therefore, strong experience of preparing/reviewing personal tax returns and managing your own client portfolio is required, along with excellent staff management skills. With strong team-work and relationship building skills, you should be able to help develop new and existing business, work well under pressure yet still deliver on time and budget.
