Senior VAT Tax Manager

McGinnis Loy Associates are proud to be working with a Top6 UK Accountancy Firm who are looking for a Senior VAT Tax Manager to join their team in the Reading office. Reporting to the Tax Partner, you will be required to proactively grow the VAT practice and provide a specialist and comprehensive VAT advisory service to key clients within the Thames Valley region. Key duties include:

• Ensuring a first class advisory service to all business clients to minimise their VAT liabilities and compliance issues
• Identifying tax planning opportunities within the portfolio
• Playing a lead role in the development of the VAT team to grow the business through marketing events, and assisting with the expansion of the VAT client base.
• Managing client assignments that are sizable in both scope and scale and high net worth clients.
• Acting as a focal point for the delivery of sophisticated tax advice to clients and the business.
• Providing effective technical support to the partners in their chosen area, recognising issues to manage technical risk
• Playing a key part in the planning and performing VAT consultancy assignments
• Producing high quality tax reports and professionally presented documents, ensuring minimal input from partners
• Working closely with individual clients and developing a clear and detailed understanding of the business and client expectations

To be considered for the role, you should ideally be in a Top10 Accountancy firm currently with strong VAT expertise or from a mid-tier firm seeking a move to a larger practice where wider responsibilities and a broader client base will be made available. Strong VAT technical skills are required along with staff management (inc coaching and mentoring), and you should ideally be ACA, ACCA or CTA Qualified or equivalent. With excellent team-work and client relationship building skills, you should be able to help develop new and existing business, work well under pressure yet still deliver on time and budget.
