The Role

As the Professional Head of Occupational Health & Safety, the Safety and Assurance Director will lead, direct and provide advice, expertise and support on all safety, environmental and counter terrorist matters throughout the company.

The Safety and Assurance Director will put in place and oversee strategies to ensure the company maintains its Safety Certificate under the Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems regulations 2006 and promote continuous improvements in personal safety and security for the company, its staff and customers and promote good practice in environmental awareness.

The Person

The successful Safety and Assurance Director will hold a NEBOSH Diploma and will be a Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (preferably Chartered status). You will have Quality and Safety Management experience at a senior level, ideally in a regulated commercial environment (e.g. rail, mass transportation, aviation, airline, marine, oil & gas, DFT ).

The role of Safety and Assurance Director requires the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels, the credibility to influence at senior management / board level and a comprehensive knowledge of UK safety legislation.
