Overview
The job holder will work with a range of stakeholders to collaboratively ensure that systems are designed and built to meet the defined business, functional, technical, performance and security requirements. The position will bring extensive coding knowledge and experience to the development life cycle.

Solution Design and Development
The Back End Developer is expected to play a key role in the architectural design of solutions, during both solution design meetings and coding and will be expected to be highly knowledgeable and experienced in:

*Willingness to develop a deep understanding of our data and its potential uses.
*Design and implement robust and scalable data processing infrastructure
*Performance optimisation to deliver user facing data-driven applications such as enterprise search, reporting and analytics for a range of user devices
*Investigate and leverage emerging big data technologies to deliver business value
*Interest in natural language processing, text parsing, content analysis, semantic enrichment, entity extraction

The job holder will be expected to have experience as follows:

*Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related
*5 years of Java software development experience
*Demonstrable programming and technical skills (Java, SOA)
*At least 1 year of experience on a data driven project (e.g. search, analytics, reporting)
*Grasp of computer science concepts (e.g., data structures, models etc.)
*Understanding of NoSQL databases/ ElasticSearch (experience is a bonus)
*Data models, standards and serialisations, e.g.: XML, XSLT's, JSON
*Experience of using cloud services (AWS/Azure)
*Experience in the design, development and release of enterprise applications.
*Open minded approach to technical stack
*Worked in an Agile environment, TDD, Continuous Integration, JIRA, Sonar
*Front-end development experience: e.g. HTML5, CSS, JQuery, AngularJS
*Devops awareness: Puppet scripting, Vagrant builds
*Excellent communication and mentoring skills, good verbal and written communication

Further to this, they are expected to build expert
skills in:
*Web services,
*TCP/IP Socketing,
*Spring,

Our client utilises an Agile development process. The Back End Developer is expected to be knowledgeable in the implementation of Agile development principles and be prepared to work with the Scrum Master and Development Manager to adapt the core Agile approaches as required to meet business and quality objectives.
