An exceptional opportunity for a talented Operations Manager to join the senior site leadership team at DS Smith Display (POS print/ packaging) in Ely. Part of the highly successful, £4 billion p.a. t/o DS Smith Plc group, the site employs around 85 people and operates on a 24/5 shift system, supplying an increasingly complex product portfolio to a blue chip, brand owner and retailer customer base.

During a handover with the current post holder as part of the Company’s succession planning process, while familiarising yourself with the company’s products, philosophy and customers, you will immediately review all aspects of current operations and develop and drive a continuous improvement programme which will support ambitious growth plans. A key objective is to establish strong leadership and clear vision across the operational workforce, building on, and promoting our client’s culture of empowerment, motivation and employee participation. Your responsibility will cover all aspects of quality, operations, engineering and logistics.

You will develop an operations strategy and a programme for change, making best use of the skills and capabilities of the workforce while developing them further through enhanced communication and true team - working. You will be responsible for successfully ‘bedding down’ and optimising productivity from new and existing equipment, whilst achieving ambitious goals on production efficiency, cost reduction and profit improvement

With a history of operational management success in a volume manufacturing environment i.e. fmcg, packaging, automotive or a similar, technically demanding environment, you will be well versed in driving and developing CI strategies through the use of WCM tools and techniques. Key to success in this role will be strong leadership and coaching and development skills which will take the site to new levels of operational excellence.
