McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a Top6 UK Accountancy Firm who are looking for Tax Investigation Managers to join their growing teams in Manchester & Birmingham. Reporting to one of the Tax Partners, the roles would ideally suit a Qualified Accountant with CTA or ACA qualification (or equivalent) from either the HMRC or a top-tier Accounting Firm. You will be managing a team of junior staff and you must have strong in-depth Tax Investigations experience and knowledge. Key duties include:

• Managing the day-to-day running of Investigations and Voluntary Disclosure assignments for a portfolio of clients.
• Advising clients in relation to tax administration and enforcement legislation (inc areas such as penalties, appeals, powers and enquiry processes)
• Responsible for preparing full disclosure reports, including all computational aspects of the report for submission to HMRC
• Delegating appropriate tasks to more junior staff across the region and reviewing their work
• Liaising with clients and other external parties to ensure work is produced to both budget and timetable
• Preparing agendas for meetings with clients and HMRC, ensuring all points are followed up after meetings
• Negotiating settlements on behalf of clients and responding to queries raised by HMRC in relation to case details
• Responsible for the billing and collections in respect of each client in the portfolio
• Maintaining a network of professional and business contacts for business development purposes

To be considered for the role you should be seeking a move to a larger accountancy firm where wider responsibilities and a broader client base will be made available, or from a Top4 practice or HMRC itself where your broader Tax Investigations experience will be highly sought. Being able to handle complex tax cases is critical for the position, and the role would ideally suit CTA/ACA/ACCA Qualifieds or those with relevant Investigation experience in HMRC. Previous staff management experience is required and you should have excellent team-work and relationship building skills, work well under pressure yet still be able to deliver on time and budget.
