Financial Accountant

Reporting to the Head of Finance you will undertake a variety of financial accounting duties whilst also providing technical expertise to all key internal stakeholders. With responsibility for the annual and interim accounts process, you will act as the first point of contact for external auditors and also complete the quarterly and annual VAT returns and all associated statutory returns. Working with colleagues within the finance team, you will review and improve procedures, systems and controls and undertake ad-hoc projects which may include financial analysis or investment appraisals.

You will be a qualified accountant with a strong background in financial accounting, gained either within the profession or industry. Excellent communication skills are essential as is the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels within an organisation. Sound analytical skills, the ability to comprehend a range of issues affecting financial performance and a proactive approach and commitment to improving systems and processes would also be beneficial.

summary of responsibilities and duties:

*Preparation and review of Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Capital Expense requests
*Assist with Internal and External audit requirements
*Responsible for the maintenance and review of system data/audit trail of data changes
*Provide technical guidance to junior members of the team where required
*Creation of business cases for Primary Care, financial modelling
*Assist in preparation of annual budget, including preparation of the budget models for submission to head office
*Provide training and support the department and hospital management on interpretation of financial reports
*Work closely with reception and billings team to ensure correctly billing procedures are followed
*Manage the Business Office team for sales administration and billing
*Participate in various key projects including the implementation of a new Practice Management System for Primary Care and Detailed review of current internal controls and processes

In order to perform this role the post holder will need:

*ICA or ACCA qualified with a background gained both from practise and industry
*Big 4 experience highly desirable Experience of preparation of management accounts and support to cost and profit centre managers
*Previous experience gained within a well-established financial organisation
*Detailed knowledge of groups accounting/finance systems (knowledge of Meditech would be beneficial)
*Computer literate including an excellent knowledge of Excel (macros, pivot tables)Reed Specialist Recruitment Limited is an employment agency and employment business.
