Big Data Java Software Developer - NoSQL, Java, Spring, Apache Kafka.

A small UK software and consulting company with over 14 years of experience helping businesses to do better marketing analytics. Their technology platform creates the richest, most accurate customer profiles allowing clients to create advanced segmentations in order to more effectively target customers or even predict what they are most likely to do next.

They require an experienced Java developer to join the existing server team to help them build out a new data processing solution. You will complement the team by bringing expertise in developing real-time, grid computing and data management for the purposes of real-time data analytics. You will not only play a key role in the design and development of new system components but also evangelise these new technologies and coach the team in getting the best from them.

This is a particularly exciting opportunity to create a brand new platform using some of the latest Java technologies for application in the emerging big data customer intelligence market.

You will need to showcase extensive experience in developing big data solutions that handle millions of transactions and display in near real time. So your background must include the following -

* Educated to degree level in an IT, science, or engineering subject
* 5+ years hands-on experience of Java development with a deep understanding of Java internals, concurrency, object oriented design, and enterprise design patterns
* Large scale NoSQL database development (ideally grid-based e.g. Cassandra)
* Grid-based computing frameworks (e.g. Apache Storm)
* Message broker frameworks (e.g. Apache Kafka)
* Experience with the Spring framework
* Agile methodology, test-driven development, continuous integration

Experience in any of the following would be a significant bonus:
* Relational databases (SQL Server in particular) and ORM technologies
* Data warehousing, business intelligence, analytical reporting
* Web analytics
* Dev Ops and cloud computing (e.g. AWS, Docker, Ansible)
* Building scalable web applications and web services
* Scripting languages (JavaScript, Groovy, Bash)
