Investment Writer

Main duties and responsibilities

* Write and edit monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual commentaries for long only and alternative funds and segregated mandates
* Provide rapid and accurate responses to investment queries received from sales and marketing
* Daily interaction with various business entities with the portfolio managers, client operations and risk & performance to ensure the smooth implementation and timely production of investment reports
* Assist line manager with creating a range of original value added content enhancing company branding, including marketing brochures, pitch books, product overviews, promotional e-mails, articles and white papers in support of sales and strategic objectives
* Researching, organizing and writing compelling thought leadership pieces that effectively convey the brand voice, enhancing the company's reputation and ability to compete against leading institutional asset managers
* Proactively generating topics and detailed proposals for value-added outputs, maintaining in-depth knowledge of capital markets, industry trends and leading competitors
* Networking and collaborating effectively with marketing, sales, and investment professionals to understand business unit needs and investment capabilities
* Conducting research using data bases and other information sources within and outside the company, and obtaining necessary proof points and documentation supporting key arguments
* To help Marketing to follow compliance procedures for the approval of all marketing materials

Experience and person skills required

* Proven experience in writing and editing investment content for a range of audiences that include institutional clients, brokers and investors
* A good foundation in investment knowledge, including knowledge of the institutional asset management industry, products and financial markets and services
* Solid investment knowledge in fixed income
* The candidate must have the ability to work efficiently and effectively with a high level of activity and changing priorities and have absolute discretion when dealing with confidential matters
* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to develop productive relationships with internal customers and investment professionals - to be able to tailor approach individuals to get the best output
* Ability to work within a close knit environment and under pressure both at team and organisational level
* Ideally hold the IMC and/or the CFA qualification
* Excellent stakeholder management skills
* To be keen to take responsibility and ownership for work; to meet quality and timeliness goals - being well organised and work autonomously, with minimum supervision
* Be patient, tactful, diplomatic, helpful and approachable
