Logistics Manager

Rate: £55K to £65K (Permanent)

We have been retained by our client to help them appoint a highly competent transport and warehousing professional with drinks distribution experience to lead their team at a key Distribution Centre.

Basic £40k to £50k plus car, bonus and excellent benefits (Package up to £65k)

Key Responsibilities:

Management of the Distribution Centre team including fulfilling line manager role for the Distribution Centre management team.

Responsibility for the 22 distribution vehicles including servicing and maintenance arrangements of fleet.

Ensuring Company and Statutory compliance of all transport policies, legislation and procedures, tachographs, mobile phones, fuel emissions, etc.

Close control of cost and analysis of cost drivers.

Providing an excellent customer service by developing internal and external customer relationships to ensure customers are totally satisfied with the service provided and any complaints are dealt with courteously and efficiently.

Ensure operational excellence throughout the team.

Personal Development Reviews to monitor performance and give feedback. Employee engagement including regular team briefs.

Staff recruitment, retention, induction and training. Dealing with employee relation issues.

Engagement with Unite representatives.

Providing financial reporting in conjunction with targets set for the depot.

Regularly liaising with Head of Secondary Distribution and DCM peer group to ensure optimal operation of the Distribution Centre.

Management of key strategic and tactical projects as necessary.

Key Requirements:

Knowledge

CPC holder in National Freight Transport
Understanding of Supply Chain systems/processes
Awareness of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental impact
Proven experience of strategic planning
Awareness of external influences such as changes in legislation
Understanding of principles of cost control.
Must be able to communicate with people at all levels both internally and externally.
Strong leadership and people management abilities
Strong influencing skills
Good presentation skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and proven ability to quickly develop proficiency in bespoke ERP systems and Planning & Route Scheduling software
Proven working knowledge of drinks distribution operations
