Senior Tax Manager

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a Regional Accountancy Firm in the Midlands who are looking for a Corporate Tax Manager. Reporting to the Tax Director, the role would ideally suit an ACA and/or CTA from another mid- to top-tier or Regional Accountancy practice or an ex-HMRC technical tax specialist. Working within a small team, you must be strong technically and be able to demonstrate strong Corporate Tax compliance expertise and knowledge. Key duties include:

• Working with the Tax Director on corporate and some personal tax compliance and advisory assignments
• Providing advice to clients on various matters from EIS, R&D claims, re-organisations, share purchases, CGT planning & IHT planning for owned managed businesses, HNWI and entrepreneurs
• Providing solutions to technical issues and being able to demonstrate sufficient technical knowledge to supervise relevant project areas
• Ensuring that the quality of corporate tax work is done to agreed cost and timescales, and adheres to the Firm’s quality standards.
• Responsibility for the management and development of the technical team.
• Development of innovative tax solutions in conjunction with Tax Counsel to HNWI, entrepreneurs and OMB.
• Provision of Tax Consultancy Services and review of technical work of Managers.
• Delivery of Technical training to staff involved in technical work.
• Development and monitoring of systems to ensure that standards are adhered to in review and delivery of tax advice.
• Establishing systems for technical evaluation of tax products/initiatives from other providers.
• Responsible for systems for creation of precedent material in advisory work.
• Establishing systems for technical review of work of third party consultants.

To be considered for the role you will need experience of working in practice and leading a team of tax professionals, as well as a strong track record of providing advisory services and innovative solutions. You will be used to working closely with Clients, Partners, HMRC with an ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. An in-depth knowledge of every tax is not expected but a broad understanding is required, and you should be highly motivated with an ability to motivate others. A strong team player with a clear ability to inspire and lead that team, you should be able to make clear and ambiguous decisions, take broad organisational needs/sensitivities into account and have excellent planning and organisational skills
