Personal Tax Manager

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a Top10 Accountancy Firm who are looking for a Personal Tax Manager to join their growing team in Oxford & Reading. Reporting to the Tax Partner, the role is mainly advisory based and would suit a Qualified Accountant with the additional ATT or CTA qualification (or equivalent) from another large or mid-tier Accountancy Firm. Key duties include:

• Advising a portfolio of HNWI, Entrepreneurs and Land-owning personal clients including control of billings and cash collection within the firms criteria
• Reviewing tax work prepared by more junior members of staff with the team
• Liaising with HMRC in relation to complex tax returns
• Ensuring all advisory assignments are completed within agreed budgets and keeping clients/Partners informed of any over-runs
• Ensuring that the firms quality control procedures are adhered to
• Liaising with the wealth management team & other tax specialists within the firm in relation to potential recommendations
• Assisting Partners in the management of the Tax team and supporting them with the recruitment of junior staff
• Participating in bids/proposals for new personal tax advisory work

To be considered for the role you should have proven experience in a personal tax manager role with the ability to deal with a wide range of clients and different technical tax issues. Experience of supervising/managing staff and reviewing tax work is essential, and you should maintain an in-depth, up to date knowledge of UK personal taxation. Educated to degree level, and ideally AAT/CTA and/or ACA qualified (or equivalent), you should also have strong internal team-work and external relationship building skills, be able to help develop new and existing business, work well under pressure yet still deliver on time and budget.
