Financial Controller for a FTSE commodity driven b

A commodity driven global FTSE business is looking to recruit a Trading Accountant. Working in the UK corporate head office you will be a integral part of the Trade Accounting team.

Strategic objectives
-Timely production of reports with regard to the commodity procurement and trading,
-Timely production of month end numbers,
-Profit & loss impacts are fully explained.

Detailed responsibilities
-Manage the Trading Accounting function,
-Prepare a daily update of the expected average cost of the commodity,
-Preparation of daily profit & loss and position report, analyse results and provide explanations to traders and wider stake holders,
-Analyse foreign exchange exposure and understand FX results,
-Review mark to market valuations,
-Monitor the development of actual vs estimated average preferential for the commodity,
-Manage commodity costs for the monthly closing process,
-Manage the accounting for actual arrivals,
-Prepare the monthly income statement for traded and re-exported world market figures,
-Ensure that the accounting procedures are compliant with Group requirements,
-Liaise with the tax function,
-Drive planning, budgeting, forecasting and production of appropriate performance measures,
-Help the traders understand their responsibilities in maintaining a visible control over their business,
-Ensure and monitor compliance with accounting standards including IFRS 9.

To be considered for this role you will be a qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and have a strong understanding of trading practices. It is essential that you have had exposure of trading practices.

You will also ideally have systems knowledge of SAP and have advanced Excel modelling skills with the ability to adapt models for users. You will also have considerable experience of modelling "projects" and "what if" scenarios and of providing interpretation and advice.
