Threat & Vulnerability Management - Team Leader

The role of Team Leader is to effectively manage a team of specialist staff and has overall responsibility for the provision, planning, conduct and the tracking of remediation for all Penetration Testing undertaken within the Bank against specific infrastructure and software solutions; the testing is currently conducted by external third parties. The second key task of the team is to plan, undertake, report and track remediation of the outcome of vulnerability scans across the Bank’s environment. Both tasks are required to enable the maintenance of a secure and safe environment within which the Bank and its staff can operate.

The individual, and the team, will also have to provide detailed, high quality advice and guidance to colleagues as to the management or avoidance of technical risks that could introduce vulnerabilities into the Bank’s environment including the assessment and categorisation of actual or potential vulnerabilities making recommendations as to the most appropriate course of action. There will be a key requirement to participate in, and contribute to, incident management activity related to the role in relation to potential or actual vulnerabilities, in some cases taking the lead role in the activity.

The role involves much work and interaction with both technical and non-technical colleagues across the bank so a clear and appropriate communication style needs to be adopted to ensure, and monitor, customer satisfaction of all TVM services provided by themselves and the team. There is a need to provide senior stakeholders with a Monthly Information pack showing management of technical security risk, TVM activity and progress on remediation plans for vulnerabilities discovered.

The Team Leader will need to manage the team to ensure that the systems and toolsets for which they are responsible are maintained and delivered in line with operating procedures and for liaising with all IT Services Teams, ensuring system integration and consistent approaches are maintained. They will need to provide appropriate management of service desk calls assigned to team, as well as managing 3rd party Pen Test companies and other contracted parties as required. To effectively deliver against objectives will require ensuring technical and process documentation are complete to current standards and appropriate contributions are made in relation to Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning.

This is primarily a team management role, so the job holder must adhere to, follow and enforce, the organisation’s policies and guidelines in all aspects when managing the team and in planning, managing, prioritising and supervising its workload. Contributing to this activity will include the setting of team and individual staff objectives, undertaking staff reviews / appraisals and developing and implement training and development plans for staff within the team.
