Senior Audit Manager

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a Top6 Accountancy Firm who are seeking to strengthen their Public Sector Audit function and recruit Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIPFA Audit Managers for their Bristol offices. Reporting to one of the regional managers, you will have ownership of specific Audit assignments, take a lead in the management and development of client relationships and actively manage the firms risks. Key duties include:

• Leading fieldwork on client sites providing a hands-on compliance and advisory role
• Preparing client project documents and taking the lead role in co-ordinating Audit work streams
• Providing additional support to clients in delivering their projects, including project planning and management of the procurement admin processes.
• Managing the Audit planning process of major public sector clients, ensuring consideration for audit risk issues and accounting technical matters.
• Producing commercial management reports and drafting sections of the report to management
• Discussing any technical and audit issues with clients identified during the course of audits
• Delivering expertise across primary accounting frameworks (UK GAAP or IFRS) and in related financial reporting matters
• Ensuring all Audits are in compliance with auditing standards and internal procedures
• Developing Audit Seniors in the team by on the job training and helping with their work
• Understanding the budget allocated for the job, ensuring time is allocated appropriately
• Monitoring WIP for clients on a regular basis and minimising write-offs
• Assisting with negotiating and raising fees where appropriate.
• Contributing to the development of the firms Local Government Advisory team methodology and market knowledge through involvement in technical and/or sector-based taskforces.

To be considered for the role you should be ideally be a degree-educated and qualified ACA/ACCA/CIPFA Audit Manager or Senior Manager. Knowledge of the public sector is preferred but not essential, although you should be accomplished at report writing, be capable of developing outline business cases, baseline reviews and the implementation and delivery of Audit plans.
