THE CLIENT
A biopharmaceutical company, is seeking to recruit a Financial Controller capable of setting up the whole finance function. Finance is currently being outsourced.
The Financial Controller will carry out and oversee the day-to-day activities of the company and ensures the finance function is organised and efficient and produces accurate and timely financial and management accounts.
THE ROLE
*Management of the finance function
*Maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes:
oE.g. sales/purchase ledger postings, bank and balance sheet reconciliations;
*Preparation of Monthly P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flows;
*Timely production of statutory and internal financial reports;
*Approval of monthly payroll;
*Preparation and submission of VAT returns;
*Preparing the audit papers for the annual audit and interim financial statements and liaising with external advisers on annual audit;
*Preparation of Corporation Tax workings for review by auditors including R&D tax credits;
*Preparing and submitting information to shareholders as required;
*Preparing and submitting information to statutory authorities, including HMRC;
*Preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and cash flows;
*Cash management and treasury duties;
*Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained;
*Working with the CFO and CEO on financial modelling and analysis;
*Assisting with the finance strategy including seeking mezzanine and public funding as required
THE PERSON
*Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
*Previous financial control and management reporting experience is essential
*Good understanding of accounting standards, in particular IFRS.
*A knowledge of US GAAP would be beneficial.
*You must be able to demonstrate good attention to detail, good judgement showing logical decision making, and a hands on approach;
*Computer literate with good Excel skills and solid understanding of accounting software principles and SAGE.
*Knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry is desirable.
