Financial Controller

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with an International Logistics business who have offices in key locations around the world and are now looking to recruit a Financial Controller for their West-London based Head Office. Key responsibilities include:

Ownership of the monthly & quarterly financial reporting process including preparation of the board pack and related commentary
Preparation of the month-end management accounts including all reconciliations (Bank, Purchase and Receivables) to strict internal deadlines
Preparation and submission of VAT Returns, and completion of Duty & VAT reconciliations
Production of weekly KPI and financial data for the Senior Management Team
Implementing a new credit control policy for the business (aged debtor analysis, bad debt provisions)
Managing a small team in the Finance function
Supporting the commercial teams in producing costing and margin analysis information as required
Point of contact for all external parties including Banks, Auditors and Insurers
Leading the budget & forecasting process including preparation and presentation of the annual budgets
Budgeting, reporting & monitoring of capital expenditure (plan v actual)
Preparation and submission of the annual group statutory accounts pack, and liaising with auditors
Ownership of the in-house payroll, ensuring employee’s salaries and RTI/PAYE filings are processed on time and reconcile
Working with the MD in formulating strategy and long term plans for the business
Capital expenditure reporting including evaluation and preparation of submissions
Setting annual budgetary cost rates for cost centre’s and company overheads
Ensuring all HMRC tax requirements are met including deadlines for Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE, Duty etc

To be considered for the role you should be a fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA Finance Manager or Financial Controller with experience in fast-paced and challenging environments with proven technical accounting skills and financial reporting/business analysis skills. With excellent personal presentation, credibility and the gravitas to work with the Board on a regular basis, you should also have strong staff management skills, solid IT skills and be able to make decisive decisions quickly. Previous experience of working in the Logstics, Freight or Transport Industry would be a distinct advantage, but is not essential
