Senior Accountant

The role sits within the Treasury Financial Reporting team and allows an excellent way to understand the funding elements of our business. The role will challenge you and exercise your problem solving skills working with complex treasury products. It will give you an understanding of accounting volatility, the retail business, market risk, credit risk, forecasting and stress testing.


You will work with a full range of Treasury products in a changing regulatory landscape, with new standards regularly released, new processes administered from the PRA, new trading financial instruments and new systems changes internally.

You'll help ensure the accuracy of the accounting for Treasury financial instruments, building confidence in the reported results whilst increasing understanding throughout the business and the drivers of volatility. You will help develop functionality to ensure the business keeps pace with a constantly changing regulatory landscape. To do this you will need to work closely with other areas of Treasury and Finance, including the Derivatives, Funding, Market Risk, Product Risk, Group Reporting and Technical Accounting teams. Opportunities for exposure and development within this high profile area are significant.


As a minimum requirement you'll:
*be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
*have experience in Financial Reporting gained working either in business or a practice environment
*have no problem assimilating and interpreting complex requirements
*have strong communication skills mean you'll be able to convey difficult technical issues to a broad range of recipients
*be highly numerate subject as well as strong analytical abilities and excellent written skills,
*have a proven track record of proactively instigating improvements, delivering to a high standard, on time

It would be nice if you also had:
*experience in financial services and or treasury (they can teach you the treasury elements if you don't already have this experience)
