Financial Controller

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a £180m Internationally renowned business who are looking to recruit a hands-on UK Financial Controller for their Staffordshire based head office. Reporting to the Finance Director and supervising a large team, key duties include:

• Delivering financial information and monthly accounts on a timely basis, adhering to all external deadlines. Identifying and analysing operating results, developing performance metrics and reporting, and communicating opportunities for improvement
• Owning the process and delivery of group reporting including budget, month end, capital and forecast submissions. Delivering a robust forecast for the business that accurately reflects trading and a forecast of future expected trading, incorporating future risks and opportunities.
• Managing the statutory accounting process and compliance with group accounting policies. Ensuring all tax and other regulatory information is accurately produced on time
• Managing and controlling the accounting systems, continually reviewing and improving effective and efficient financial controls
• Managing the year end audit process and point of contact for internal and external auditors
• Actively managing the balance sheet ensuring diligent nominal ledger reconciliations are produced.
• Managing the forecasting process and the capital budget for the year.
• Playing a key role in business development, working with the FD on long-term planning, capital requirements and investment appraisals.
• Providing analytical resource to the Marketing team to aid decision making, challenging and understanding their assumptions to ensure budgets and forecasts are realistic and in line with strategic direction.
• Leading a direct team of 4 in Finance, and a wider team of 20+ across the various entities

To be considered for the role, you should ideally be a degree-educated and fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA Financial Controller with experience in a fast-paced and challenging environment with proven technical accounting skills and reporting/business analysis skills. With excellent personal presentation and gravitas to work with a Senior Management Team, you should also have experience of running multi-site/multi-entity businesses and be able to manage large and diverse teams.
