UK Financial Controller

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a highly renowned International Business who are looking to recruit a Financial Controller for their UK & Ireland entities. Reporting to the Finance Director and managing a team of 4, you will be responsible for:

• Co-ordinating all aspects of Accounting and Controls for operations in the UK and Ireland, ensuring compliance with external regulations and all internal policies, principles and regulations
• Understanding the organisation’s systems and processes in order to provide independent and objective advice to the business to maximise compliance with internal controls, and minimise losses to the business.
• Monitoring SLA and KPI delivery from the European Shared Services Centre, developing collaborative relationships to enhance controls and performance.
• Overseeing periodic US GAAP reporting performed by the Accounting staff to meet Corporate reporting deadlines
• Managing period-close processes to agreed deadlines to enable reporting of business unit periodic performance, including loading of financial data into Hyperion
• Managing all aspects of external and internal audit including co-ordination of audit visits, planning of audit approach, review and action of audit findings.
• Providing technical guidance to the Accounting staff in relation to US GAAP reporting.
• Identifying risks in the Balance Sheet and pro-actively controlling and providing solutions
• Managing the company’s tax reporting, submission and payments in line with local UK and Irish tax regulations
• Managing the cash flow forecasting process including review and sign off of weekly and annual cash flows
• Identifying areas for improved control and implementing processes and systems that drive cost savings or improved control
• Supervise, coach and provide career guidance for members of the Financial Controls team

To be considered for the role you should be a fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with excellent technical accounting experience, financial controls & audit expertise and a proven relationship-builder across both Finance and non-Finance functions. Experience within multi-site FMCG, Distribution or Retail type environments would be an advantage, although a strong personal drive and passion to succeed, being results-orientated, able to challenge the “status-quo” are more important qualities for this role.
