VAT Tax Manager - TOP10 Accounting Firm

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a Top10 UK Accountancy Firm who are looking for a VAT Tax Manager to join their growing team in Reading. Reporting to the Tax Partner, you will be required to proactively grow the VAT practice and provide a specialist and comprehensive VAT advisory service to all business clients within the Thames Valley/London region. Key duties include:

• Managing work in progress across the team to ensure recoverability targets can be met
• Planning and performing tax consultancy assignments, making recommendations accordingly
• Leading and managing a VAT Tax team including staff training, giving regular feedback and completing timely appraisals
• Taking responsibility and ownership of the client relationship at appropriate levels in the client's organisation
• Managing client VAT assignments that are sizable in both scope and scale
• Writing high quality tax reports, professionally presented documents, requiring minimal input from directors or partners
• Acting as a focal point for the delivery of sophisticated tax advice to clients, dealing with a wide range of technical issues
• Growing the business through marketing events, assisting with the expansion of the VAT client base
• Demonstrating an ability to analyse and interpret data, identifying business issues and applying technical knowledge
• Providing technical support to the partners in their chosen area, recognising issues to manage technical risk

To be considered for the role you should ideally be in a Top20 Accountancy firm with strong VAT expertise with both proven technical and managerial skills. You should have a strong track record of developing opportunities into solid engagements, and you should be ACA, ACCA or CTA Qualified or equivalent (HMRC training experience is also advantageous). With excellent team-working and client relationship building skills, you should be able to help develop new and existing business, work well under pressure yet still deliver on time and budget.
