My client is a FM service provider with a network of offices across the country. They offer their customers a complete range of hard and soft facilities management services tailored to you’re their needs, as a single solution. They have recently become part of a larger group but retain the feel, flexibility and culture of an SME. Their turnover last year was circa £40m with a split of 75% soft services/25% hard services. Their client list is enviable and includes household names in the educational, retail, corporate, property management and FM sectors.

I am now looking for candidates for the exciting new position of Business Development Director (who will personally be targeted and will sell). Reporting into the CEO the role holder will have a small established sales team (a BDM, a Telesales/Marketeer and a Tender writer) to manage although at the moment this will take up a very small proportion of time, with the vast majority of the role holders time being spend on the key task of selling. The client will be led by the incumbent in terms of which markets to attack (their core strength is soft services, but they have a strong hard services offering and are increasing their security presence, with London being their strongest area) and the creation of a sales strategy including when justified recruitment. The purpose of the role is to take responsibility for achievement of the company’s revenue line, creating business opportunites, controlling resource, setting direction and winning new business to an agreed target and to assist the Operational Managers with commercial issues as requested. Responsible for the development and management of the company’s sales pipeline.

For this role candidates should have experience of selling in TFM with a proven record of developing business and commercial opportunities. Experience of preparing sales and tender documents and an ability to see the sales process through from initial contact to completion. Excellent skills in developing client relationships at a senior level and experience of managing sales and customer relations. Strategic Management experience would be beneficial and experience of multi-level external and internal liaison with clients and operations. The role’s base is the client’s head office in West London, although candidates can reside within the South East and counties north of London south of Birmingham. This vacancy may suit either a successful senior BDM who is looking for a step up into a Director role (where the strategic and team building element of the role can be taught) or an existing Director (who still sells) who is looking for a new challenge. This role offers an excellent opportunity for the role holder to be the “master/mistress” of their own destiny.

Salary £60k-£90k, plus comm, car, laptop, phone, 25 days holiday, pension (3% employer/employee)
