A professional accountancy qualification with significant post qualification experience (5 years plus) in a commercial organisation, preferably a luxury business.

Strong academics

Significant, demonstrable experience in a similar role (preferably fashion and/or retail).

Significant experience of all aspects of forecasting, budgeting and financial planning.

Strong working knowledge and demonstrable experience of financial reporting and preparation of statutory accounts.

Strong working knowledge of taxation issues (particularly Income Tax, NI and VAT) and the ability to broaden that knowledge as required.

Significant experience and/or responsibility of US company financial management and reporting.

Demonstrable working knowledge of and experience managing UK payroll (both in-house payroll and third party payroll providers). Working knowledge or and experience managing US payroll is highly desirable.

Change Management and Process Improvement

A good working knowledge of the use of information technology in financial management. The ability to critically appraise the financial systems, processes and controls, and identify and implement changes to strengthen the control environment across the company and increase efficiency of the team.

Commercial acumen and the ability to think creatively and innovatively in relation to problem solving.

Clear demonstrable experience of where you have made a significant difference or improvement to a finance department.

Staff Management and Communication

Proven ability to lead, motivate, mentor and develop people and create an open and positive working environment.

Excellent communication skills, with experience of working with non-finance managers and the senior executive team.

A positive, communicative personality that engenders confidence in others.

A supportive and open line-manager and colleague.

Excellent planner and strategic thinker.

Excellent risk management and cost control skills.

Ability to take responsibility for decisions made and to learn from the outturn.

Ability to deliver timely results despite obstacles and limited resources.

A strong grasp of all relevant legislation and of how it applies to the role.

Excellent advocacy, presentation and communication skills.

Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.

Other

An understanding of contemporary issues in financial management in the luxury retail sector or the interest and ability to assimilate these rapidly.

Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal direction.

A natural leader with demonstrable experience in leading by example.

A strong work ethic and enthusiasm for change.

Understanding and interest in luxury fashion.

A keen interest in satisfying internal and external customers.
