Big Data Engineer - Hadoop - Java - Python - HDFS - YARN - Hive - Sqoop - Perl - Bash
Our client, a nationally recognised start-up, is seeking a Big Data Engineer to join their team in New York. After seeing unprecedented success since their product launch earlier this year the time to grow is now. Coming off the back of securing a multimillion dollar round of funding this is a great time to be joining one of the most exciting start up businesses in New York City.
Responsibilities:
Work on huge scale data sets within the Hadoop ecosystem
Improve deployment capacity for customer facing systems using Hadoop, spark, java, python
Troubleshoot challenging technical problems driving innovation across the business
Requirements:
Hands on experience with Hadoop ecosystem tools like Hive, Sqoop, YARN, HDFS
Extensive system engineering experience
Solid knowledge of scripting languages like perl, bash or python
Knowledge of core machine learning algorithms
Understanding of performance data (collection and monitoring)
Personal skills:
Collaborative with good interpersonal skills
Creative and innovative approach to challenging problems
Easy going, likes to have fun
Wants to work hard and challenge themselves
