An opportunity for an ambitious, Senior Operations Manager has arisen at one of DS Smith’s Packaging sites in Devizes. This FTSE 250 international packaging group offers a caring, energetic and challenging culture together with excellent, fast track opportunities for on-going personal and professional development.

The Devizes site, which employs 200 people, is currently attracting significant investment and entering an exciting stage of development which will result in increased product complexity, higher added value and further growth with a major blue-chip customer base.

Reporting to the Managing Director and forming part of the senior site leadership team, you will assume full management responsibility for the Operations team including Manufacturing, Planning and Despatch. Your challenge will be to lead a step change in the business by developing and engaging a highly skilled workforce to further develop a customer focused, continuous improvement culture with a commitment to driving manufacturing excellence in all operational areas, specifically health and safety, quality and productivity.

We are looking for a dynamic, commercially astute manufacturing professional with the tenacity and vision to deliver significant improvements through the utilisation of leading edge manufacturing tools and techniques. Key to your success will be the ability to harness the support of a high calibre workforce, developing a culture which encourages development, high performance and team working.

Graduate calibre – possibly also MBA – you will have demonstrable ability to improve productivity within an advanced, team based, continuous improvement manufacturing culture. Your sound operational experience will have been gained in a fast turnaround, high volume, customer focussed, manufacturing/engineering environment e.g. food, packaging, FMCG. You will be an outstanding communicator and presenter capable of providing strong and highly visible leadership to an enthusiastic and highly committed team.

The role offers genuine development opportunities within this highly respected group and will attract candidates looking for significant career progression within 18-24 months.
