GDO Project Manager

My client, a global telecommunication company, is currently looking for a GDO (Global Delivery Office) to start immediately in a project in Amsterdam.

Scope: Providing the governance and delivery of programs and projects as a service

Start date: asap

Duration: 3 months (possibility of further extensions)

Location: Amsterdam

Language: English

* Be responsible for the support, operation, and the continuous improvement of the demand and delivery governance framework (tools, processes, and methodologies)
* Provide leadership through formal governance roles e.g. on steering committees
* Play a key role in the management of the delivery cycle globally, including the operation of the delivery framework, training and support for delivery teams, and enabling improvements in the the speed and quality of delivery (eg agile vs continuous vs waterfall delivery models)
* Support the objectives of the portfolio management and reporting functions in GDO
* Proactively promote the adoption of good program and project management practices
* Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders globally
* Direct, manage and motivate a team of highly skilled & knowledgeable internal/external PMO specialists, and also influence members of PMO and delivery teams in the T&I matrix organization
* Support and deputise the GDO management team as needed
* Implement and maintain the governance framework to support governance, reporting, and portfolio management processes including checkpoints, change requests, demand management, and reporting on the delivery status and plans

Preferred education/ qualifications:

* Certification from a recognized professional body in delivery management, PMO and governance, portfolio management or PPM tools (e.g. Clarity, MSP, Jira, etc.)
* 10+ years years experience within PMO, governance and/or delivery of technical products; preferably in the telecommunications, cable, and/or software or media industries
* Very good knowledge of PMO and governance in global organizations
* Excellent understanding of traditional waterfall and agile delivery methodologies used in the industry e.g. PRINCE2, Scrum, etc.
* Knowledge of data and analytics to support governance and portfolio management
* Experience of the implementation, adoption, operation, and continuous improvement of governance processes is essential, including managing requirements, training and releases of new processes
* Good awareness of project and program management tools, methods, and processes
* At ease and effective in operating in an international working environment
* Fluent English speaker, ideally with other European languages
