Head of Buying - Seasonal, Stationary & Gifting

This non-food retailer with circa 200 stores in the UK is looking to recruit within their senior leadership team in their Buying & Design team. This role sits within their Home, Furniture, Outdoor & Leisure category.

In this role you will be to one business' key growth categories and you will be driving the strategy for this sector.

Here you will be fully accountability of the delivery of the buying strategy, including the own-brand development for these growth areas.

Your responsibilities include-

* To take a strategic and commercial view in all decision making, to maintain and improve the market position of the product category.
* Delivering the own-brand strategy & own-label development as a competitive offering to the branded merchandise to drive margins.
* Drive profitability of the category through sales, margin and stock management
* Leadership of a team of 4-5 people
* Working with the Trading & Technical Director to make sure product are produced at the highest quality and within budget.
* Having top line understanding of the supplier terms, negotiations and being responsible regarding any escalation.
* Involved in the Far-east sourcing and liaison within their Asian sourcing office.
* Maximise sales, minimise markdown and achieve profit targets.
* Have a great understanding the produce range, comp shopping on price, product & range.

To be successful you will have-

*

* You must be director head of or controller level as this will be someone who can lead from the front from the start.
* You must have experience within a high street retailer and can lead a large team and £multi-million budget in a competitive market.
* Led a high performing team by setting clear direction, coaching and provide clear objectives for the team.
* Has experience working in the Far-East from a sourcing and supplier perspective.
* You must have experience with a strong focus on private label development and European and far east sourcing and manufacturing.
* This individual should be able to back themselves by challenging the status quo, and sharing best practice.
