Head of Purchasing £49k-£53k Luton

Founded in 1988 our client is a privately owned world-leading manufacturer of professional monitor and audiophile speaker systems. Their clients are most of the world’s premiere music and film sound recording studios, broadcast companies, post production and audio mastering facilities. The majority of blockbuster movies, chart-topping albums and revered classical recordings have been mixed and mastered using the company’s speakers. The company is experiencing significant growth and has ambitious plans for the future.

The role
Purchasing / Procurement Manager – Head of Purchasing reports to the Operations Director and is responsible for strategic purchase planning and stock control in line with business growth and the review and development of 100+ suppliers
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee supply chain management and procurement on a world wide scale.
- Manage two purchasing assistants/administrators)
- Buying the best quality equipment, goods and services for the company at the most competitive prices
- Identify cost saving opportunities
- Analyse and monitor supplier performance
- Sourcing and negotiation with suppliers
- Obtain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
- Build strong working relationships and communications with suppliers
- Providing accurate and timely reporting
- Forecasting levels of demand for products
- Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
- Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress, checking the quality of service provided
- Forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities
- Developing an organisation's purchasing strategy
- Producing reports and statistics using Sage computer software (software upgrade pending)
-Attending meetings and trade conferences (UK, Europe & China)

The Candidate
- Experience in a purchasing management role in fast paced manufacturing/ assembly environment
- Excellent people management skills
- CIPS qualification or working towards same
- Strong commercial awareness
- Ability to adapt to different client needs and to develop and maintain successful working relationships
- A good standard of numeracy in order to analyse facts and figures
- A flair for negotiation and networking
-The ability to make important decisions and cope with the pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines
-Positive “can do” attitude
-Travel will be required in the UK, Europe and China
-Forecasting experience
- ERP Experience desirable
