My client, one of UKs largest news publisher based in London, is looking for an experienced Data Architect to join their small agile team who are delivering a deeper understanding of their readers.
The news publisher sells 600 million newspaper each month, with 6 million readers monthly and 8 billion page views per year.
We are looking for a data architect to help them select and design data stores to hold data about their users.
The successful candidate will be able to design the data stores so they are efficient, cost effective and GDPR compliant.
They`ll also be capable of writing data processing policies and documenting the data.
The team is responsible for providing a deeper understanding of our users to help guide us to providing a more engaging experience.
Tech Stack
Their infrastructure is predominantly Amazon Web Services, using capabilities it provides such as S3, Athena, Glue, Lambdas and Step Functions. They use Tableau for providing data dashboards, and use
Spark, Scala, NodeJS and Python for any custom development tasks.
They are strong believers in DevOps principles and infrastructure as code, and they are continuously trying to improve in that direction.
Desired skill set
The ideal candidate for this position will be a generalist, with an interest in working across the full stack.
You will have experience working collaboratively within a web development team with a non-hierarchical structure, be self-directed and happy to work on your own initiative.

Experience designing data stores for multi-billion records, likely with sparse data.
Experienced with performant querying of data stores
Ability to design a data store which is GDPR compliant
Data tiering techniques and tooling
Experience writing data processing policies
Experience with ETL tools useful
Can-do, positive attitude, proactive approach to problem solving
Happy to learn new technologies
