Experience in either DBA or Middleware technologies or both will be considered as long as you keen to learn new software technologies.
This role is to be based out of their Bristol offices, with a degree of mobility required to travel as needed.
Your future duties and responsibilities
My client is looking to recruit a DBA with Middleware expertise to make a difference to projects in the Financial Services sector. Working within their Database and Middleware Services team, the successful candidate will help design, implement, support and offer consultancy across a range of Database and Middleware technologies, with a particular focus on cloud-technologies. Core tasks include installation, configuration, performance tuning, cyber-security, etc., and can also involve aspects of DevOps, Agile development, consulting and supporting bids.
The role provides the successful applicant with an opportunity to develop their career whilst working collaboratively with other members of the firm and customers across a range of projects. Due to the varied nature of the role, we will provide relevant cross-training to candidates who demonstrate a good depth and breadth of technical expertise, working across Databases, Middleware and Cloud Platforms.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
The successful candidate will demonstrate a selection of skills across Database Administration (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and/or Middleware technologies (e.g. IBM Websphere, Oracle Weblogic, Tomcat, JBOSS) and Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, Oracle Cloud). Any particular expertise in Oracle Exadata, RAC, DataGuard, EBS and across domains such as cyber-security, cloud-provision, performance tuning would be beneficial.
From a personal standpoint, the candidate should be an excellent communicator and enjoy working collaboratively, with a flexible and enthusiastic approach to their work. You will need to be comfortable with working autonomously and be tenacious, quality-driven and with great attention to detail. Knowledge of ITIL principals, analytical skills and problem-solving ability would also be useful.
