Amphenol Ltd is part of the $8.5 billion p.a., Amphenol Corporation – a market leading, global, interconnect specialist. Based in Whistable, Kent, this already successful site employs c280 people, and specialises in the design and manufacture of a diverse range of highly engineered connectors and interconnect products for a demanding customer base in the aerospace (AS9100), military and industrial sectors. The company is growing at a rate of 11% CAGR with a projected turnover of £50m p.a. by 2020, which will be supported by further, £multi-million investment. This has created an opportunity for an Operations Manager who will play a key role in delivering unrivalled levels of manufacturing excellence by continuing the cultural change journey around people, quality, machine reliability and systems development.

Reporting to and working closely with the Operations Director, through a team of 4 Production Managers across CNC machining, injection moulding, electroplating and assembly with a total workforce of 110, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy to maximise efficiencies, including delivering improvements in safety, productivity, OTIF and waste. You will drive a culture of continuous improvement, empowerment and employee participation by leading, coaching and developing the site team, ensuring optimum manufacturing performance is achieved. By identifying, and acting on, opportunities for improvement and cost reduction, you will also assist the business in creating value, both internally, and for the customer base.

Candidates will have an impressive track record in operational management, encompassing change management exposure, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques, gained in a progressive, multi-batch, multi-process, manufacturing environment e.g. automotive, aerospace, engineering, fmcg etc. This will be combined with exceptional communication skills, with the ability to lead, motivate and inspire your team, and colleagues, at every level.
